Pros

- Landmark projects - Complex design - Well organised projects and hierarchical structure - User friendly web platforms, large accessible knowledge data base - Opportunities to train and develop knowledge via funded learning

Cons

- Lack of opportunities to fully own your respective workstreams - Too great a focus on 'ticking the boxes' with regards to inclusion, equality and well being not enough focus on build. - LGBTQ agenda forcefully fed to all irrespective of your beliefs and morale standing - Lack of progression opportunities due to cooperate outlook, in some cases true talent commonly overlooked. - Renumeration can stagnate, not enough focus on rewarding individuals upon achieving goals or for consistency in outstanding results

Unsafe work environment

Pros

Laing O’Rourke land government contracts and there is opportunity to contribute towards state development projects.

Cons

Laing O’Rourke like to talk a big talk, but they do not follow through on the ground. They are quite disorganized is some areas of the business. There is no connection between the values at the top and what happens on the job. It is frequently an unsafe environment. They do not care about their employees on the job, not one single dot. The things I have seen would leave most people feeling cold (and honestly, if we didn’t need the work, we would walk). Unfortunately, their legal team are heavy hitters, we will never hear the real story about how they treat their workforce. I have seen people try, but no one can speak out as those who might are quickly disposed of. There is a real ‘shoot the messenger’ culture. It all creates a really unsafe environment. I am not at all surprised there are such high suicide rates in the construction workforce generally.

Pros

None. Everything they put out about inclusivity and safe work practices is a lie

Cons

Everything. If your aim is to be "one of the boys" and you support workplace bullying, then this is the company for you. Otherwise, steer clear. It's toxic
