Pros

KPMG pays pretty well and it is easy for someone to take on a lot of responsibility early in their career.

Cons

The hours at KPMG, like many public accounting firms, can be unbearable for some. Be prepared to work 60+ hours per week, on average. Also, during the time I was there, promises of bonuses were made to employees. Once the company incurred the large tax shelter penalty, these bonuses were not given. Originally it was stated, in writing that 80% of employees would receive bonuses. In reality, the actual percentage was much, much lower.

Pros

KPMG is a large international company with travel opportunities. It is well known in the industry and is well respected by the business world. I was able to work on large clients which provided a great knowledge base for my future growth. KPMG also provided an extensive training program which kept us up to date on the most current industry standards. Additionally, the firm provided us with the most up to date technology and sufficient training to properly utilize the technology. One of the best benefits was that trainings were held on a national level and provided for travel to different parts of the country and alos provided a glimpse into how other offices were doing the same tasks.

Cons

Because the company is so large it is sometimes hard to get into the position / industry of interest. Sometimes you do feel simply like a number. One of the largest downsides was that the firm required the staff to have a presence at the client for 12 months of the year. In my 2+ years with the firm I worked in KPMG's actual office space for maybe 10 days. There were times when I felt that I was more an employee of the client then I was of the firm because I had more of a daily interation with their employees then my own colleagues.
