Despite overworked and short-handed, Ericsson continues to lead the telecom industry

Pros

Relatively stable tech work. Ericsson has become the biggest telecom company in the world. There are opportunities to travel domestically and abroad. This company continues to develop and improve the best communication technology in the industry.

Cons

There is a lot of stress from work load due to downsizing and constantly changing processes. Competence training is available but little time to take advantage of it. There are advancement opportunities but cliches in mid-management leave little real opportunities. Jobs are usually filled by manager's friends before job is posted.

Pros

Good work life balance. Great benefits package. Ability to move between departments and technologies. This is a company where one can build a career. Management provides a lot of scope for competence and leadership development. Ambition is appreciated, and nurtured. Employees are empowered. Above all, consistent cost control has provided more job security as hiring and layoffs are not in waves, but controlled very well. So, company remains sound financially. Upper TEchnical management has made many right calls in the tech arena.

Cons

Tendency to be too consensus driven at times. Creativity is restricted at times by 'the way things have been always done'.

Pros

International opportunities are enormous and if you are a talent, you will be targeted. The global presence and the dynamics is really the good side of it. You'll meet a lot of interesting people (mostly senior these days), which can support your career progression if they/you're up for it.

Cons

Engineering culture. Some departments are quite slow, avoid these. Everything is process focused and structured, especially in the back end (product management, sourcing, supply) which is advantageous for some, but inhibits creativity for others. The three business units are quite different though. A lot of gray-haired managers. Experience is what counts.
