Pros

My immediate team, new office building

Cons

My time at Paychex was spent feeling isolated and depressed. Within my first two weeks, I realized I was the only Black person in a building filled with hundreds of people and started feeling like I had made a serious mistake. Felt dis-empowered, seeing something wrong that I couldn't do anything about. After awhile, the lack of diversity in PD-and-IT started to seem intentional. Many Testers, Scrum Masters, Requirements Analysts, and so on come from non-technical roles in other departments. Those other departments are more diverse but it seems like the only people who ever transfer into PD-and-IT or get hired are White or Asian. Most offensive thing was on their career portal, posting a picture of a black guy coding in a building that I had never seen another a black software engineer. Only exception to this was a black female intern. Seems like diversity is a fashion statement to them and not an actual value. They are not aware and/or they don't really care about the moral or absolute consequences of not having a diverse and truly inclusive environment. Furthermore, why would you advertise something that is false? Quit after I realized that my employment at Paychex had made me stop trusting my ambition.

Paychex is dedicated to fostering a culture of inclusion and diversity by embracing individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, innovation, self-expression, unique capabilities, and talent. We also value integrity in all that we do, including using photos on our careers page of our actual employees. Although we are on a journey of increased efforts to be more intentional around inclusion in all aspects of business, we are disappointed to hear that your experience has let you down. We will be sharing your feedback internally to our inclusion and diversity team, as well as our leaders in PD and IT. In addition, we would like the opportunity to further discuss your experience in more detail, and invite you to contact us directly at glassdoor@paychex.com.

Pros

Nothing is good about working here.

Cons

Nobody is ever held accountable. Pay is awful. Benefits were all moved out of state, so all providers in the area are all out of network. Jobs are being moved to India. The list goes on. Sales is the absolute favorite department in the entire company. Nothing sales can do is ever wrong, even when they give false information to clients and then the support team has to deal with the fallback. Don't get me started on Payroll.... the entire department has gone to the wind. I honestly don't know how this company ever did good with payroll services. The #1 complaint i got from every single client I interacted with was they could never get ahold of their Payroll Specialist. The company's response to this was to start making other departments learn payroll duties. This year they moved insurance benefits to a plan out of Arkansas, which made every provider I was already seeing become out of network. I had my first major medical scare of my adulthood and ended up paying a few grand out of pocket because U of R was out of network. Promotions are non existent. They make you apply and interview for any role you want to move into. There is nothing good about working here, and i would advise anyone to stay away from them.
