Pros

Good name to have on your CV, with a flat management structure means decisions can be quickly made, can be good pay (at the start of employment) and not bad benefits. More insulated from the downturn in commodities due to being part of a large group (EDF family).

Cons

Highly political as you would expect with a company owned by a group that is state owned (French). All about who you know and who you are mates with. With internal jobs being given to those with contacts in the right places. Lack of promotion and opportunity to develop, wages are static, staff don't move or leave and therefore there is a lack of opportunity.

Pros

Good pay and benefits. Work/life balance is good and overtime & annual leave are very competitive. Also get a good amount of training early on in career. There is a desire to keep employees within the company.

Cons

Too much middle management structure. Managers contribute very little to the business and are more concerned about their performance metrics and how they are perceived by their peers. Severe lack of flexibility, innovation and ambition within the company which decreases staff motivation, narrows job responsibility and inhibits diverse development opportunities. Due to the good pay/benefits, people who are unhappy with their job become reluctant to leave.
