Pros

-PTO is average for industry, starting with 17 days. -There are endless learning opportunities outside your own business group -The co-workers themselves are great to work with. -Chubb is a growing company and the outlook of the company profits itself look favorable. The company is growing and there is little need to worry about loosing your job -401k is 50 percent matching up to 6%

Cons

-Mid Level and Upper Level Management is completely disconnected with the individuals completing the front line work. -There are a lot of initiatives to improve the work culture and environment but these initiatives never seems to gain any traction and solutions to everyday problems take too long to come down, if they ever do. -The work load is barely manageable and management will tell you to work through lunches and work 60 plus hours a week if needed, just to keep your head above water. -HR will mislead and lie to you about the employment structure, bonus structure/raise, and other items, in an effort to stifle employees from asking for fair compensation. -There is very little room for growth and promotions are given more on a political approach then to the people who prove themselves. -There is a deep feeling of negativity that permeates throughout the office. -People constantly are quitting, making it difficult for the employees who stay to manage the work load

So glad I left!

Pros

The adjusters in the claims department are hardworking great people who I really miss!

Cons

Used to be a great place to work. After the Ace merger, company has gone downhill fast. Employees are just a number, benefits cut, poor work life balance, micromanaging instead of supporting. GL claims work load is ridiculous! Nearly 200 pending and no support or encouragement by management. Adjusters have been told they could hire anyone off the street to do the job! The employees are completely stressed out and feel hopeless!

Underwriter

Pros

The underwriting department includes a very experienced and tenured team of insurance professionals and local management has the best of intentions after working through the recent mergers.

Cons

The underwriting department is understaffed making a 50-60 hour work week a requirement to handle your unreasonable daily responsibilities. Work-life balance is impossible even with the option to work a home 2 days each week. The turnover of experienced underwriters makes this constant and 3 years after the ACE merger there have been no steps taken to provide any relief. Salary levels are below average for the marketplace and experience of the staff and annual increases of 1-2% are disappointing and extremely insulting. The management staff seems to not work with other underwriting departments to solve the current workflow challenges and procedures that are repetitive and unnecessarily time consuming and do not need to be. There continue to be system challenges that hinder your ability to effectively do your job and no one seems to be making any effort or know how to get them fixed.
