Pros

Great part-time job for someone wanting additional journalism experience either as an upperclassman in college or later on.

Cons

Autonomy can be a positive or a negative, depending on how much supervision you want/need/seek.

Pros

-prestigious; world's best, most ethical news org -most people are very intelligent, decent, kind human beings -great training for news staff, techs -technology behind, but improving -always interesting, constant change, fast-paced; never dull or boring -great managers; flexible, human -great team camaraderie -great company values -good work environment, culture, depending on your location -great communicating with the world

Cons

-not so good communications within the company -non-guild benefits are poor, uncompetitive; cost to employees continually increases -no career path, advancement opportunities; no job security for non-journalists -pay is unreasonable - way below the market average; make sure you hire-in at the rate you want because that is where it will stay -once in, your skills, experience, contributions and accomplishments will have zero impact on your pay, yet you will be expected to continue producing at a higher and higher level -very intense, keenly stressful work environment -expect to do the work of 2 to 5 people with no extra pay or recognition - negatively impacts work-life balance -for outstanding work/results, you will get pretty words and no rewards -workloads steadily increase to the point of being ridiculous (almost all job areas); heavy burnout
