We are looking for a Material Developer – Footwear to identify and select suppliers of products, components, materials, and services from a limited supplier panel, and to contribute to contract negotiations in line with a budget framework and purchasing policy defined by the manager.

Key Responsibilities – Purchasing & Sourcing

• Co‑define and deploy the purchasing strategy for the assigned market(s).
• Develop an in‑depth understanding of external markets (players, costs, trends) in order to propose new internal solutions (concepts, processes, technologies, innovation).
• Select and manage suppliers within the assigned scope, ensuring quality, cost, lead time, development capabilities, and service level.
• Participate in internal and external negotiations; formalize and contractually secure decisions.
• Assess supplier risks based on Group criteria (financial, revenue impact, CSR, geopolitical context, legal, etc.).
• Manage supplier disputes (invoicing issues, non‑compliance with agreed conditions, operational claims).
• Contribute to the deployment of continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers (lean, co‑development, etc.).
• Lead kick‑off meetings and scope definition for markets within the assigned perimeter.
• Facilitate periodic contract reviews and monitor key performance indicators.
• Maintain ongoing market and technology intelligence.

Materials Development & Product Innovation

• Contribute to product creation and end‑customer satisfaction by developing innovative, high‑performance, and reliable materials, staying at the cutting edge of technology.
• Define technical solutions and choices while controlling the balance between innovation and risk.
• Manage material selection based on performance, manufacturing locations, and cost targets, while optimizing the number of material references.
• Ensure material development aligns with brand values, the CSR approach, and sustainable development objectives.

Responsible Purchasing & Social Compliance (FLA)

• Apply the Fair Labor Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing principles throughout the supply chain.
• Work closely with the Salomon Global Sustainability team to implement and ensure compliance with responsible purchasing practices.
• Collaborate with the Group Sourcing Vendor Sustainability team during quarterly business reviews and participate in training and capacity‑building initiatives (at least once per year).
• Respect agreed timelines and ensure balanced annual capacity planning to accelerate the implementation of responsible purchasing practices as defined in the Responsible Sourcing Policy.

Missions principales – Achats & Sourcing

• Co‑définir et déployer la stratégie achats sur son/ses marché(s).

• Piloter les réunions de lancement et de cadrage des marchés de son périmètre.
• Animer les revues périodiques des contrats et suivre les indicateurs de performance clés.
• Assurer une veille technologique et marché continue.

Développement matières & innovation produit

• Contribuer à la création de l’offre produit et à la satisfaction client en développant des matières innovantes, performantes et fiables, à la pointe de la technologie.
• Définir les solutions et choix techniques en maîtrisant l’adéquation entre innovation et niveau de risque.
• Gérer la sélection des matières en tenant compte de leur performance, des lieux de production et des objectifs de coûts, tout en optimisant le nombre de références.
• Garantir l’alignement du développement des matières avec les valeurs de la marque, la démarche RSE et les objectifs de développement durable.

Achats responsables & conformité sociale (FLA)

• Appliquer le Code de conduite Fair Labor Association’s Workplace et les principes Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing sur l’ensemble de la chaîne d’approvisionnement.
• Collaborer étroitement avec l’équipe Salomon Global Sustainability pour la mise en œuvre et le respect des pratiques d’achats responsables.
• Travailler avec l’équipe Groupe Sourcing Vendor Sustainability lors des revues d’affaires trimestrielles et participer aux actions de formation/capacitation (au minimum une fois par an).
• Respecter les délais et assurer un lissage des capacités annuelles afin d’accélérer la mise en œuvre des pratiques d’achats responsables définies dans la Politique d’Approvisionnement Responsable.

Ideal profile: Master’s degree (Bac+5) in Purchasing or equivalent, with 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role and a similar product environment.

Required key competencies:

• Written communication: Ability to communicate clearly, structured, and professionally in writing with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaboration and teamwork: Strong ability to work collaboratively within cross‑functional project teams, demonstrating a positive mindset and effective cooperation across departments and within the team.
• Critical thinking: Ability to challenge existing practices, provide constructive feedback on projects, and clearly justify whether or not to apply a given process by explaining the rationale, implications, and impact.
