Data Analyst (F/M)

Sonepar is creating a modern, enterprise-scale Data & AI platform built around Microsoft Fabric to accelerate business insights, standardize analytics, and enable trusted data products across domains and countries.

As a Business Data Analyst, you will play a key role at the intersection of business, analytics, and platform adoption. You will help translate business needs into structured analytical requirements, meaningful KPIs, reusable semantic assets, and actionable insights that can scale across our global organization.

You will not only analyze data — you will help shape how data is understood, consumed, governed, and turned into business value on top of our new platform.

You will play a pivotal role in:

• Translating business questions, processes, and pain points into analytical requirements and prioritized data use cases.
• Working closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, data modelers, architects, and product teams to define trusted KPIs, business rules, and reporting needs.
• Designing and maintaining analytical outputs such as dashboards, reports, scorecards, and decision-support views powered by Sonepar Data & Analytic platform.
• Contributing to the definition and adoption of semantic models, common metrics, and shared business vocabulary across domains.
• Ensuring that insights are built on reliable, governed, and well-understood data assets.
• Supporting the adoption of self-service analytics by helping business users understand available data products and use them effectively.
• Identifying opportunities where advanced analytics and AI can improve decision-making, operational efficiency, and business performance.
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of Sonepar’s Data & AI platform by bringing a strong business lens to platform capabilities and priorities.

Platform-enabled analytics adoption

• Accelerate adoption of the new Sonepar-based analytics platform by promoting trusted and reusable analytical assets.
• Help business stakeholders understand how to consume and benefit from governed data products and self-service analytics capabilities.
• Act as a bridge between platform teams and business teams to ensure analytical solutions are both technically scalable and business relevant.
• Create and evolve reusable Power BI dashboards and reports aligned with trusted semantic models and governed data products on Microsoft Fabric.

Data quality, governance & trust

• Proactively identify data quality issues, reporting inconsistencies, and interpretation gaps.
• Contribute to improving documentation, lineage awareness, and confidence in analytical outputs.
• Ensure that business-facing analytics align with governance standards and approved definitions.

Collaboration & continuous improvement

• Work effectively across business, product, engineering, and modelling teams in a collaborative and international environment.
• Bring structured feedback from business users to improve analytical products and platform capabilities.
• Continuously strengthen your knowledge of business domains, analytics methods, Microsoft Fabric capabilities, and AI-enabled decision support.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

Business analysis & data interpretation

• Proven experience in business analysis, data analysis, or analytics roles in complex organizations.
• Strong ability to translate business needs into structured analytical requirements.
• Experience identifying trends, patterns, and business insights from large or diverse datasets.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to connect data to operational and strategic decisions.

Analytics, reporting & visualization

• Hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports for business stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of dashboard design, data visualization best practices, usability, and performance optimization.
• Experience working with semantic models, measures, KPIs, drill-down analysis, and reusable reporting assets in Power BI.

Data platform & modelling awareness

• Good understanding of modern data platforms, including concepts such as lakehouse, warehouse, semantic layer, reusable datasets, and governed self-service analytics.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric is strongly preferred, especially in relation to Power BI, semantic models, OneLake, and business-facing analytical consumption.
• Understanding data modelling principles and how business concepts are translated into structured analytical views.
• Awareness of data lineage, metadata, business glossary, and governance concepts.

Technical fluency

• Comfortable working with SQL and data exploration tools.
• Familiarity with Python and/or notebook-based analytics is a plus.
• Understanding how data is ingested, transformed, and exposed to analytics in modern cloud platforms.
• Ability to work with technical teams without needing to be a pure engineer.

Stakeholder management & communication

• Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
• Ability to work with senior stakeholders and explain analytical outcomes, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly.
• Ability to collaborate across business and technical teams in a structured, delivery-oriented environment.
• Comfort working in agile delivery models and cross-functional product teams.
