Uber Software Engineer interview questions

Scheduled 30 minute phone interview by email which was very timely. A man walked me through a few categories of questions meant to more specifically define my strengths and weaknesses. The interviewer stressed that this was not necessarily to filter out candidates but group them according to like qualities for further filtering later. Categories included C++, OpenGL, Datastructures, and Networking. Afterwards the interviewer answered a few questions I had about future interview processes, but I did not want to keep him on the line too long as I imagine he tries to stick to 30 min bursts. He was very polite and positive, and clearly knew what he was talking about, which is a first in my experience with interviews involving technical skills.

Referred by a relative of an Uber employee. Spoke to the guy to whom I was referred for an informational phone screen. Then, I had a call with an engineer, which was set up by HR. I'm really bad at technical interviews, so they chose not to move ahead with my application at the time, although the recruiter who set up the coding interview said they would reach out again in a few months. Had I done well on the test, I would've flown out to California for a day of interviews and stuff at Uber HQ. It's a quick and streamlined hiring system.
