I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Paychex in Oct 2011
Interview
Total waste of time for a crappy job. The salary is not that great, and they act like this is the best job ever. Make you jump through hoops, and do not reply to you in a timely manner. They will string you along for no reason, tell you they want you, then give no reason why they changed their minds.
I was first called by an outside recruiter about this position. She set up a phone interview with the District Sales Manager, one week later. The phone interview went well, but it took another two weeks to set up a face to face interview. I drove over 100 miles to meet for the face to face interview. I thought the interview went well, although the manager was a little odd. The recruiter kept telling me that I was the #1 candidate, and that the manager told her he was very interested. I did not hear back anything from for another week and a half. Finally, I get to set a second interview with another District Manager. I drove another 100 miles to meet the other District Manager. I thought the interview went well. I called the first manager and left a message to follow up the next day. 30 minutes later I get an email from the recruiter saying I was not a good fit. No explanation, no reason given, and the manager I had been speaking with for over a month did not even have the courtesy to call me personally.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Paychex (Columbus, OH) in Sep 2011
Interview
I applied online and then received a phone call from someone at their headquarters who asked me some basic questions and then emailed me a skills test which I took online. I got a call back saying I passed the test and said she would have someone from the Columbus office contact me for an interview, which she did. So I went to one interview in person where I was interviewed by two supervisors. I received a call about a week later to come back for another interview where I took a personality test, sat in with a payroll specialist and observed her working for about half an hour. I was then interviewed a second time in person by two different managers and finally interviewed one on one by the branch manager. I felt that the interviews went well, I know at the final one on one interview I got a little nervous because the person interviewing me was very serious and intimidating. I received an email about a week later saying they were not going to offer me a job. I'm not sure why I didn't make the cut.
