Applied online (for part-time) and the process took 6 days. Interviewed in June 2014.
They were desperate for staff, and the Interview was very casual since they were interviewing other people.
Interview was 12 minutes long. Very few behavioural questions. Treat it somewhat like a discussion between 2 people, rather than "interviewer asks questions, I answer, repeat".
On another note, this store's policy was to be a "community asset" that helps students and youths get the necessary experience to move onto better jobs. For that reason, the manager himself said he didn't want to keep any staff (other than skilled staff who legitimately want manager positions) for more than 1-2 years.
If you're applying for part-time (especially while in school) and get asked "do you see yourself working with us in 5 years", there's nothing wrong with saying "No. By that time, I plan to use this invaluable experience and move on to a better career". In-fact, that may be the answer they want to hear.
For the same reason, consider replying "disagree" to questions in their online/written application such as: "Are you interested in a manager position?"
If hired: you come into the store on your own time to:
1) complete 3 paid hours computer modules for store policies, POS and register operation.
2) complete 3-5 paid hours computer modules for serving customers.
3) 5 paid hours of serving actual customers with Manager advising and assisting you.
4) repeat until you're ready to start.
Could be different at your local outlet. Ask a current worker for details, although the Manager should explain the process in detail in your interview.
