I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at CarMax (Merriam, KS) in Nov 2011
Interview
I spent longer than expected due to the heavy customer traffic that day. I was interviewed multiple times over the course of several hours. I felt like I had completed a decathalon by the time I finished and when my future boss handed me a cup for an immediate drug test it hit my humor button. Overall I felt like the resulting job offer was due half to my skill set and half to my endurance.

culture seems to be as advertised, committed to developing people from within,in a big box retail environment, more so than as a car dealer.

Question 1
tell me about a time when you overcame problems, and the process you took to do so.
The process took 1 day. I interviewed at CarMax in May 2012
Interview
The process started with a typical phone call from a manager who asked me to come in for an interview.
The interview consisted of 4 stages:
Stage 1: A background questionnaire. The questionnaire featured general questions (have you been convicted of a crime, driving and credit record). This was done on a computer.
Stage 2: Interview with a manager from the department you will be working in. The interview questions were basic, and fairly easy.
Stage 3: Interview with a supervisor and lead position associate. Again, this interview was pretty easy. Questions were mostly about situations.
Stage 4: Talk about the job, duties, and pay. Position was offered, and a drug test administered.
