I was able to skip the initial phone screen, as everyone I spoke to was very friendly and excited to continue the interview process.
However, the technical interview was challenging, as the interviewer was cold and non-responsive when I tried to bounce ideas off of them. Ended up struggling with a graph traversal problem that I could have studied a bit more for.
The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Amazon (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
I had a total of four interviews:
One with the hiring manager and three other interviews were with either team members or teams that work with my team.
The first interview was system-level related. The rest asked algorithm questions. All asked behavioral-type questions.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Behavioral Q: Tell me about a type that you came up with a creative solution. How was it accepted? and what was the impact?
Behavioral Q: Tell me about a time you suggested something to the team and they declined it. What happened.
Behavioral Q: Tell me about a time you strongly disagreed with a suggested solution and approach. Why? and what happened?
Algorithm Q. Leetcode question number 79 (Word Search in a matrix of letter)
Algorithm Q.: Leetcode question 472 (Concatenated words)
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Amazon
Interview
Online coding: 2 problems on hackerrank-like site
phone interview with recruiter
4 online interviews each 1h long: 2 algorithm problems, system design, 1 designing a system. Each interviewer asked 2 leadership principles questions. They prefer you to tell new story for each question (instead of what they say you that you can use the same store a couple of times). Would try to dig into very details.
